Elizabeth Rose Ceramics

Elizabeth Rose has been making ceramics for over 10 years and created her studio in Winmalee, in the Blue Mountains, which currently has 3 kilns, wheels and glaze mixing equipment. Elizabeth has focused on raku techniques and is now adapting to stoneware and gas firing and enjoyment in creating functional ware. Ceramic bells are a favourite creation that makes a popular gift.

‘I am inspired by the environment and people around me. I enjoy traveling to see how others perceive and interpret their world. Education and learning new techniques makes me feel like a perpetual student of the ceramic world. I enjoy knowing that people can have art in their daily life, drinking from a mug I have created from clay. I also find making sculptural pieces that engage and provoke thought rewarding.’  Elizabeth Rose 2020

Elizabeth looks forward to seeing her work realised in her installation at Sculpture at Scenic World in April 2021. She continues to seek new opportunities and having enjoyed learning at Gaya Art Centre in Ubud, Bali during 2019 will embark to Tuscany in Italy and attend La Meridiana when travel becomes viable again.

Her local teachers have included Julianne Smallwood, Sadhana Peterson and Janet Woodworth. In the last year she has learnt skills and techniques from Australian master ceramicists Greg Daly and Sandy Lockwood.
