avatarMel Jones Art and Journals

Mel Jones – Original Unique Pochoir Paintings.

Pochoir is a French hand cut stenciling technique characterized by its crisp lines and brilliant palette.

It is clear that Mel has a natural instinct for this bold technique, combining Pochoir with mixed media elements to create her unique vibrant landscapes.  Embodying the quintessentially Australian Blue and Grey Gums of the mountain gullies to create her distinctive stylized compositions.

Currently Mel is developing a still-life compositional style that treats its subjects intimately whilst maintaining a vibrancy of colours that has become a signature of her art.

Studying fine arts in the 90’s Mel has exhibited in group and solo shows throughout the Blue Mountains as well as  The Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney, Currently Mel is exhibiting at the Theatrette in the Blue Mountains National Parks Tourism info Centre at Blackheath.

Mel has been a finalist in the Westmead Art Competition 2009 sponsored by the Arab Bank Australia, and after successfully completing a number of commissions earlier this year, along  with exhibition bookings well into 2011, Mel Jones is becoming a highly sought-after Pochoir inspired Artist.

Mel’s other love is creating journals and diaries, she uses a wide range of recycled books and eco friendly papers, some are recycled and others are hand painted.  For an ever changing display of journals available visit the Nook in Leura and buy one for yourself!
