avatarAlison Dickin Botanical Artist/Illustrator

Botanical art can be described as a blending of the disciplines of art and science. It’s aim is to capture the essence of the plant, its texture and growth habits in a 2 dimensional form. Watercolour is the traditional medium although Alison introduces coloured pencil and graphite into many of her works.

Alison spent several years working as a Knitwear Designer in London, after gaining her degree in Textile Design and latterly as a graphic designer.

It wasn’t until she moved to the Blue Mountains that she took up drawing and painting again, being inspired by the amazing local wildflowers including the Banksia, Kangaroo Paw, Flannel Flower and the Waratah.

She has attended several botancial master classes by renowned tutors and has exhibited locally and annually at Flora, Royal Botanical Gardens, Sydney.

Her work is available here as cards, prints  and originals.

Commissions are welcome.
